Corps de Walk - by Sharon Eyal & Gai Behar

"55 minutes of pure eye-candy" Bergens Tidende
Eyal has a strong signature and is always toying with the erotic, androgynous and sometimes the grotesque emotions in her choreographies. «Fabulous», «beautiful», «raw and relevant» are some of the words used to describe her art.

The new production for and with Carte Blanche associates with emotions and solid forms, and has several references to Killer Pig from 2009, according to the choreographer.

Sharon Eyal has worked with the Israeli musician and DJ Ori Lichtik for several years and his sound underpins her strong movement language in this performance.

Autumn tour 2011

"In recent works I have used a system of walks. For me walks are the new dance. Walks with a combination of sketched technique create a kind of hi-tech building in which I see beating hearts of gold, emotional forms.” Sharon Eyal

Sharon Eyal
Born in Israel, 1971 Eyal has been dancing with Batsheva Dance Company for more than a decade. From a leading dancer, a source of inspiration to choreographers and creators, she grew up to be a talented choreographer with a unique and personal language, leading each and every of her dancers to express his own personal and unique character.

Eyal is renowned for her uniquely personal and powerful movement vocabulary that is often submerged with delicately negotiated hence explicit references to sensuality. Dance critic Gabi Aldor describes it as follows; “the clarity of movement in Eyal’s dances is such that feminine splendor becomes a magnificence greater than life, worthy of goddesses. Her approach is a fresh reminder of an alternative femininity, maybe similar to that of Madonna who fearlessly re-invents herself every day.”

Eyal restaged Love for Carte Blanche in 2005 and produced Killer Pig for the female dancers in the company in 2009. In addition to being a dancer, Sharon was Associate Artistic Director of the Batsheva Dance Company between September 2003 and December 2004. Since 2005 Sharon is the Batsheva Dance Company House Choreographer.

PRESS QUOTES
"So cool that you refuse blinking of the fear of missing a single movement (...) It can be reminiscent of Daft Punks fantastic music video "Around The World " (...) Everything is performed accurately and the piece is 55 minutes of pure candy for the eye." Bergens Tidende

"The piece is beguilingly beautiful and aggressive at the same time, driven by  mechanical energy and mathematical precision (...) Her guest performance in Dusseldorf delivered a firework of magical scenes, constructed by android robot beings. Gorgeous and hypnotic!" Nachristen
